Notes for Judith Cowper
Judith Cowper was the fourth daughter and eighth child of John Cowper and Elizabeth Ironsides. She and her family are recorded in her father's Funeral Certificate of 1609 written by her brother, William Cowper.[1] Judith, born after 1582 at London, England, after the birth of her brother William in 1582, married Richard Bourne who was christened 18 Jun 1564 at Bobbingsworth, England.[2]

On her husband's death in 1632, Judith Bourne married secondly, Thomas Hill. Both Judith and Thomas Hill are mentioned in an "Assignment of residue of lease for 1,000 years," for two messuages called Guyse in West Ham, London, to which her son, Richard Bourne, is a party. A messuage is a dwelling house with outbuildings and land assigned to its use.
