Notes for Richmond Hite
5
There are two US Federal Census with a Richmond and Ann Hite. One in 1880 and the second in 1900. It lists them as married in 1881, for 19 years even though they have already have a family including a son Oliver who would have been 22 in 1900.

On another document, a marriage record- Richmond’s wedding is recorded as in 1886, and that Richmond listed his parents as Pleasant and Lucy Hite. There are a Pleasant and Lucy Hite in the 1870 US Federal Census for Totaro, although Richmond is not listed with them, there is a Richard listed with them - an easy enough mistake on the part of a census taker.

Richmond had at least two brothers, Isaac and Benjamin, and three sisters. There are census records on three brothers and two of the three sisters. All were possibly descendants of the slaves of Julius Hite in Lunenburg County, Virginia.

The records for the brothers say they were born in Lunenburg County, Virginia.

There are no more US Census records for Richmond or Annie. According to Ruth, Annie died after 1900, Fannie left home and Irene was left in charge of Pattie, Georgia and Annie. Richmond appears to have passed away before 1910 and Irene left and moved north to Brooklyn, NY.

I have found records for Irene and Pattie, but nothing more on any other member of the family.

According to US Census other Hite families were still in Virginia as of 1940.
