Major Isaak Stegg

Major in the Revolution, also listed as a Minute Man

Isaac, ninth child of Johannes and Hendrickie Stagg, was baptized Aug. 2, 1747 and married a widow, Elizabeth Banta, Margrietje Banta, widow of Samuel Retan.

Children by second wife:
Samuel, baptized June 30, 1779;
Hendrick Banta, born Aug. 1, 1790; and Grietje. Cornelis, second child of Jan and Neeltje Stagg, married Hendrickje Kool Antje Christy, widow of Gilber. Van Blerkum. Children by his first wife: Elizabeth and Margrieta, twins, baptized June 3, 1729, the former married Jacobus Vander Beek, and Bernardus, baptized June 30, 1731. By his second wife there were five children: Hendrick, baptized Dec. 22, 1734, David, baptized April 24, 1737; Sjeems , baptized Oct. 8, 1738; Jan, baptized April 26, 1741, married Catharine Van Deursen; and Magdalena.

William Stage. From my information also, he is my great grandfather , b. 1839. As you may know, I am gathering family information about my Revolutionary War patriot for admittance into the DAR. I have my patriot's name, Issac Stagg . Isaac is my g,g,g,g grandfather, bapt. 1747. His direct line to me is: John Stagg, b.1765; Rynear Blanchard Stagg or Stage b. 1801 ; William R. Stage b. 1839; Lewis John Stage b. 1870; Lawrence Stage b. 1895; Margaret Ann Stage Schultz b. 1934 .

My task now is to prove my relationship from William R. to Isaac. bp. 8/02/1747, m. ELIZABETH BANTA, m. MARGRIETJE BANTA.
