Notes for Anne Danvers
17

Anne was born the fourth daughter of Sir John Danvers and his wife Anne Stradling. She had, before 1539, lost her first husband, Thomas Lovett, and was then married to an unknown Wykes. Macnamara speculates it likely to be the Wykes who witnesses the will.[1]

The Will of her mother, Anne Stradling makes it clear she was still alive in 1539 and married to a man by the name of Wykes. Baker, in "History of Northamptonshire", and Richardson following in "Ancestry" state that she died before her first husband. This is clearly incorrect as she was alive at the time of the Will of her mother in 1539.

She married, firstly, Thomas Lovett, before January 24, 1515 . Sir Thomas Lovett was from the family of Lovett of Astwell in Northamptonshire. He died in 1523. They had Thomas, his son and heir, six at the time of his father's death. and two other sons and three daughters. None of the sons left male heirs and the estates passed to John Shirley, of Rakedale, Leicestershire, who married Jane, their daughter.[2]

She married secondly, likely shortly after the death of Lovett in 1523, an unnamed Wykes.[3]
