Notes for Robert (II) Taylor
9

Robert Taylor, son of Robert Taylor and Jean Patterson Taylor of Pine Ford, was born in the Juniata Valley of central Pennsylvania flowing from the Kishacoquillas Mountains. The Taylor family settled north and south of the Juniata around 1770. This Robert, fourth son of Robert Taylor of Pine Ford, migrated to Erie County, PA, some time after 1798. It is reported that he died after a tree fell on him.

The cemetery where Robert and Ann Sample Taylor were buried is unknown. There are several possibilities. The first settlement in Greenfield Township, Erie County, PA, was at the intersection of PA430 and PA89. There is an old cemetery there also . Just east of Colt's Station on Station Road is Shadduck Burial Ground. On the other hand, Robert and Ann could have been buried on the property they acquired when they first came to Erie County. "In those early days of Erie County, burials were usually at the homestead and were not marked with engraved stones as there were no stone cutters in the area. Many of the older cemeteries have plain stones marking graves, and exact dates can not be determined." "Erie County Genealogy Cemetery Records. Early Cemetery History" Contributed by Richard Tefft
