Stuart’s notes
The other is after their mother died, most of the children split, leaving the three youngest so my father felt strongest ties with Florence and Olga. Olga lived on Euclid Ave in one of the Oranges. Florence married a guy who had jewelry store outside Army base in Athens GA.
Louis died young manhood. Harold was only male to keep family name. He was an engineer for a railroad company and felt he was only Jew in trade, so kept name. Others adopted Abbey and the women got married.
According to letter we have somewhere, mother died in 1919 of the flu. My father had ties to man whose named George Ruben whom he considered half-brother. Could be corruption of Romanoff, or someone not wanting to be connected with czar. Don’t know if they had children from second marriages.
Lot of unanswered questions, such as first Ed Abbey son named Arthur, but I was told tradition in Bunin family for first son’s name to begin with S. i.e. Sanford, Shelby, Stuart, but Simon was second son. I could not find reference to Bunin who was rabbi, or name with an S.
