Notes for Nancy Ann Wayne
6
Nancy Ann Wayne is not listed as a child of John W. Wayne and Sophia Cozad, and she overlaps with their daughter Mary.

There is a Nancy Wayne born in 1843 who is the daughter of Turner and Mary Wayne but she may be Nancy E. Wayne who married into the ROdgers family.

Our connection to the Wayne family is tenious at best.

Candidate family:

Several years ago when I first started to do family research a cousin wrote to me with brief family information. She said that the father of our g/grandmother was John W.Wayne who married Mary Ann Richardson in KY. She said they "lived" in Anderson County. This would be around 1840, as the birthdate of my g/grm was 1844/1846. Her name was Mary Elizabeth. Siblings were Mandy Ellen, Nancy & William. Although I have searched census records, Internet forums and various library sources, the only reference I could ever find was from "Kentucky Marriages" Anderson Co, which stated only: Wayne, John / F.John Wayne to Mary Richardson/ F Campbell 23 May 1845.

This cousin further stated that she believed they were originally from VA, and that she thought he was a descendent of the Anthony Wayne family . I have been unable to find any information that would lead to this conclusion. That particular cousin died soon after this information was given to me and I did not follow up for several years. I do not live in the area of the family and although I have recently contacted some contemporary relatives, no one seems to know what I'm talking about. I always thought it rather strange this particular cousin would mention an Anthony Wayne connection, as she wasn't the kind of person to make this up, and even be aware of Anthony Wayne. And most people I mention this to now from there have no idea who Gen'l Anthony Wayne is. American History is not a favorite subject anymore apparently.
