I am interested in exchanging information on the following Hocking County families:
John Wilkinson+Phillis Knox, both from England. John was naturalized along with his brother Nicholas, in Hocking County, Ohio in 1848. Children of John and Phillis are: Thomas, John, and Aaron. John died in 1850 and Phillis remarried to his brother Nicholas in 1854, Athens County.
William Rose and Margaret Lowery. Children are: Jane*, John, Amos, Ezekiel, David, Sarah, Malinda, Rebecca, William, Nancy, Mary Ann, Margaret Ellen. Roseville, Ohio was for William's father or grandfather. William was a farmer and a minister.
William Stalter b. 1820 and Jane Rose* b. 1824. William and Jane married June 5, 1844 in Hocking County, Ohio. Children are: Elizabeth Gertrude , Robert , Evaline , Caroline, Emma, Mary A., Charles , William, Julia E.
William Sr. was a gunsmith. I am trying to find out who William Stalter's parents are. I think he may have had a brother named Joseph, who married Mary Jane Miller, February 18, 1841 in Hocking County, Ohio also.
Jacob Evans b. December 2, 1847 and Ellen Griffith b. March 8, 1858 This family came from Lawrence County, Ohio, had a short time in Vinton County, finally settling in Hocking County at Sand Run/Carbon Hill.
Known children are: Rhoda J. , David, Earnest L., William, John , Flossie, Mearl, Martha, Lizzie, Mattie , Mary, Elijah. I am interested in learning Ellen's parent's names. Her death certificate says she was born in Wayne County, West Virginia. Jacob was born in Lawrence County, Ohio.
