Don't have exact prove on parentage of Jesse C. Deen, but he is the
best candidate for the youngest son of James and Ann Deen.

"Hi, I am sorry to be so slow in answering your email, I finally went
through some stuff I have on West and Deen or Dean, I don't see
Matty. The one thing that strikes me odd is that my Martha "West"
Slater, and her brother Joab or Job West came to Ohio in the very
early 1800's, Job stood up for the Martha and David Slater marriage
, and they married in Loudon Co. Va. in 1800, they
went on to Belmont and Guernsey counties and eventually
ended up in Center township, Morgan Co. Ohio. Daughter of Martha
West Slater and David Slater, also married a Jesse Dean or
Deen in 1840 in Morgan Co. I have been unable to get any information
from a Deen or Dean ancestor so am unable to link you up on such
scanty info, I do have a few West notes and very little Dean info
other than the Martha and Jesse Deen family. I would not be a bit
surprised if there is some relationship between your family and mine.
In the 1820 Ohio Census at Morgan county I could find Joab West and
a John West households being 76 and 89, looks like Joab is the older
being 45 and up where John is in the 16-26 age, perhaps son of Joab.
These are both at Center township. If you would care to send any
other information I would be glad to compare with what I have and if
I should find a link would pass on any info. I do know the Dean,
Deen, family lived in Hocking county Ohio after they married, I
believe it was Starr township. I don't have the Jesse Dean parents
names, some of the Dean children were married to Atkison, Stalter,
and Sanner or Sonner. If this rings a bell let me know.

"Hi Anthony, I am not going to be a great deal of help here, My Jesse
C. Dean and Martha Slater were
supposedly both born in Ohio, they married in 1840 in Morgan Co. Ohio
and supposedly again both buried in Hocking Co. Ohio, I have a write
up from a newspaper clipping on Martha as
well as a death certificate that says she was buried at Groves or
Grover Cemetery at Nelsonville, Ohio.

Now in the 1880 Hocking Co, Starr township, Ohio census , lists Jesse
Deen 63? married and a farmer, born in Ohio and both parents born in
Va. Martha his wife is age 61 keeping house, born Ohio and parents
both born Va. The only listed child at this census is Isabell age 23
born Ohio and single.

Other Deen persons listed on the same census is a Michael Sanner age
61 and this is the father to son named Edward W. Sanner ,
who married Isabell Deen listed above.
Other Deen head of households are Lewis maybe a brother to
Jesse, Wesley , and James .

The names listed as their childrens married names may be spelled
other ways, like Atkisson, Atkinson ??, Dean, Deen, Sanner, Sonner,
Samer??

Will be looking forward to hearing from you again and if I should
find something more I will be sure to write you. Thank you ever so
much for this information as I am sure you are on the right track,
and will welcome any information on any of the names and can see if
we are related. I went into Deen, Dean because I wasn't having any
luck finding more Slater info. to put them 1 more generation back.
Ha. Thanks again. Sue Ren"
