Marticia, the fifth child of Thomas and Mary Laughery, was a survivor of the Great Hinckley fire of 1894.
She married John R. Stanchfield in Johnson County, Iowa in 1875. Sometime between 1881 and 1886, the family moved to Hinckley in Pine County, Minnesota.
John Stanchfield was a carpenter, and he helped rebuild the town of Hinckley after the fire. In the Hinckley Fire victims cemetery, a gazebo still stands that was built by John over 100 years ago.
