All the names are familiar, and we have a copy of the same John Whayne will. The Benjamin Whayne-Nancy Tankersley line is in our family. I'll post the timeline we have for Benjamin and Mary's father . We also have been unable to prove any links to John's parents, though there are a number of possibilities.

One question...what document or proof do you have that places Mary's birth in King & Queen County in 1791. I've seen that cited a number of times, but with no source references and that's needed to link the Campbell County Whaynes to King & Queen County and perhaps their ancestors.

I'd also be pleased to learn of any info you have on John Whayne and the family in general.

In any case, here's John's timeline:

1752 The 1879 History of Macoupin County Illinois reports John Wayne as being "born of Scotch ancestry in Pennsylvania". It mistakenly reports him as a brother to General Mad Anthony Wayne. John may be the son of John Wayne , making his father a first cousin of the general.) No conclusive evidence to the relationship has, as of yet, been located.

This John Wayne received Bounty Land Warrant #8830 for 100 acres dated 25 February 1796. Another John Wayne served as a private in Brigadier General Hazen's Regiment of Continental Troops from 6 October 1782 to 21 June 1783. A Christopher Wayne and a Godfrey Wayne also served in Hazen's Regiment during the same period. No conclusive links have been established to either and no one bearing the name John Wayne has been found as having served with any Pennsylvania or Virginia Regiment of the Continental Line
