William Burris and _ may have squatted on this land earlier than
1838. They were the first couple married in Morgan County. [In
Bristol Twp Dec 27, 1819. jmb] Eck Humphries, an early Morgan County
Historian, described their wedding in the HERALD as being held at a
cabin owned by Stanton FORDYCE near Muttonberg or Rt 78 at that time.
William BURRIS voted in Center in 1822. In 1822 Benjamin DEAN was a
judge in an election in Center and lived at the Jesse HAINES place on
the Manchester---Center Twp border
