Willem and Lubbert Lubbertsz both probably were from Westerveld a town near Meppel in Drenthe, Netherlands and that's where the last name, later used by descendants, 'Van Westervelt' came from .

Geessie Roelofse Van Houten married Lubbert the brother of Willem, she was the sister of Dirkje Roelofse Van Houten, who married Willem. Geesie had six children: four born in Holland, two in America. This family arrived in America with Willem and family on May 24, 1662. Lubbert bought a lot of land on Long Island and he owned many slaves. About 1675 he sold his land for $1,600.00 and moved to New Jersey.[3]
Lubbert immigrated on 24 May 1662 on the ship 'Hope' with his wife and four children ages 9, 13, 17 and an infant. He lived circa 1663 at Flatbush, Long Island, NY. He lived in 1676 at Hackensack valley.
