William Hamilton, b. 1771 or 1772, according to the old record “second child and first son ot
John,*’ came to Cayuga County, N. Y., with his father in 1802. He had married, probably in
' Washington County, his cousin, Rachel Hamilton, daughter of Joseph.
He married, 2nd, Elizabeth Thomas, who was living at the time of his death, July 9, 1826,
when she applied for letters of administration of his estate. He was then “in the 55th year of his
age,” according to the inscription on his tombstone in the old Weedsport cemetery, where he
and his wife, Elizabeth, were buried. *

I Ann Hamilton, b. Oct. 13,1800. Unmarried.
II John Jay Hamilton, b. Nov. 1, 1807, Cato,
Brutus twp., Cayuga Co., N. Y., emigrated to
Bedford, Calhoun Co., Mich., in 1837, where
he died May 1, 1850. He m. Dec. 24, 1830,
Mary Young, b. May 7, 1804, d. May 8,
1891.
Children:
1 William R. Hamilton, b. Nov. 9, 1832, d. June 19, 1883, m. Alvira Wilson, b. Oct. 16, 1847, d. Jan. 1, 1916. No children.
2 George A. Hamilton, b. Sept. 26, 1835, d. Sept. 1917. Unmarried.
3 Abram Hamilton, b. Feb. 19, 1838, d. Jan. 6, 1913, m. Mary Jane Wilson, b. Sept. 2, 1838, d. Dec. 5, 1906.
