English Aristocracy. Born Matilda, the daughter of William Marshal and Isabella de Clare, the tenth of eleven children, she was often called Maud. She married Roger le Bigod, 3rd Earl of Norfolk in 1207 and with him had three children. Widowed in February 1225, she married a second time to William de Warrne, 6th Earl of Surrey the following October, and with him had two children. She died at about age 56.

Maud Marshal, Countess of Norfolk, Countess of Surrey was an Anglo-Norman noblewoman and a wealthy co-heiress of her father William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke, and her mother Isabel de Clare suo jure 4th Countess of Pembroke. Maud was their eldest daughter.

She had two husbands: Hugh Bigod, 3rd Earl of Norfolk, and William de Warenne, 5th Earl of Surrey.

Maud was also known as Matilda Marshal.
