William Hickok immigrated to the British Colony of Connecticut in 1640. He passed away in 1645.

There has been a great deal of controversy from whence came William Hickocks, , Who died in Farmington, Connecticut, soon after 1645, Leaving a Widow, Elizabeth, and two young sons. In all probability, the family came from Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, England. Stratford upon Avon is a quite English market town that has become famous as the birthplace of William Shakespere. It is one of the oldest towns in England. High peak old english style houses line its narrow streets. It is the largest town in the district. William Hickok left England just a few years befor civil war broke out in 1645. Embarked on the Plaine Joan which sailed from London for the Northern contenent on May 15, 1635. Recorded in Newhaven, Moved to Hartford in 1643, settling in Farmington, Connecticut where he was one of the original settlers. After a Hard life as a farmer he died about 1645, leaving a widow Elizabeth and two sons, Samuel and Joseph. Both sons were born in Farmington, Elizabeth later remarried to a William Adams in 1648. Her two children by Adams were Benjamin born about 1649 and Elizabeth born about 1652.
