Marriage took place in bride's parents' home by minister Wm. Mercer, George a farmer, witnessed by John O Neff and Hattie A. Comer?, registered on 18 May 1896 in Book 2, Page 72, County Courthouse, County Clerk's Office, Harlan, Shelby Co, IA

Relinda's book;
They had one son Earl who lived in a trailer with one of his sons.
They were usually drunk. Earl had 3 sons - Don - who Jess worked for
- sold and repaired Jacobs washing machines. He had a government job
during the war - inspecting wireless installations.
The youngest son was Jack - first out of the service when we knew
him.

Donna's recollections:
Vernie and her husband had more money than my parents. After the
Depression hit, this caused a lot of tension in the family, and in a
way split the family up. I remember going to visit Aunt Vernie. We
always had to dress in our best clothes.
