Notes for Enos Deen
Married 20 Sep 1836 in Morgan County, Ohio

Don't have exact proff on parentage of Enos Deen, but he is the
best candidate for the eldest son of James and Ann Deen.

Loydean Parra Allen and Bettye Buckley Wingate's family -

Enos and his family moved from Morgan County, Ohio to proximity
of Enos Deen and Stanton Fordice in Illinois. He lived in Fulton
County, adjacent to Tazewell and McLean Counties. Then moved to Iowa
in the same time and to a county near to the elder Enos and Benjamin
James.

Enos also married into the West family as did James. This pattern is
seen previously with Enos and Benjamin James both marrying into the
Fordice family. His first wife is buried in the same cemetery as
other West and Deen family members.

"Anthony,
I found Enos Dean on the 1860 Mahaska County, Iowa census as being 48
years of age. His children were Marinda, Jesse, James W., Enos,
Silas, unknown name and William J. Jesse, James, Enos and Silas
were born in Illinois. The two last children listed were born in
Iowa. The 1850 census Fulton County, Illinois states Enos is 36 years
of age. That would make born him between 1812 and 1814 according to
these two census records.

I have no idea when or where the Deen name changed to Dean. The
marriage record of Ann Nickols and Enos Deen was spelled Deen.
Marriage record to Ann West 1836 spells Enos Dean. Go figure!!!!

Hope this answers some of your questions.
Keep in touch,
Bettye"

"Searching for DEAN/DEEN ancestors. They were Benjamin, James, Enoch
and Enos. We know Benjamin arrived in Morgan County in 1818 after
service in the Virginia militia during the Revolutionary War. We do
not yet know if the four of them were related to each other. We know
Enos was a cooper and lived in Northeastern Morgan County until he
left for Illinois before 1850. Enos is my g-g-g-grandfather. Would be
happy to correspond with anyone familiar with any of the above DEANS.
Yours truly,
Loydean Parra Allen
P.S. I was named for my grandfather Lloyd DEAN"

DEEN, Ann 31 Jul 1840
Husband-Enos
Son-Harrison WEST
Daughter-Jane
Witnesses-Wm. E. MATTHEWS, Harmore NICKOLS, Alexander CONN
Probated 19 may 1845

Interesting information in that neither Israel or Elizabeth is
mentioned, instead we have Harrison and Jane. Also Harmore Nickols
is listed as a witness, possibly the father or brother of Ann Nickols
whom Enos later married.
